What began as a modest dream in West Bengal over three decades ago has today grown into one of India’s
trusted food companies – Sona Biscuits Ltd. (SOBISCO).Founded in 1988 by Shri Kailash Chand Agarwal,
whose journey in the bakery business began as early as 1961, SOBISCO was born from a simple but powerful
belief – to make food with the same care and honesty as one would for their own family.
What began as a modest dream in West Bengal over three decades ago has today grown into one of India’s trusted food companies – Sona Biscuits Ltd. (SOBISCO).
Founded in 1988 by Shri Kailash Chand Agarwal, whose journey in the bakery business began as early as 1961, SOBISCO was born from a simple but powerful belief – to make food with the same care and honesty as one would for their own family.


From its first production unit to its present-day multi-category operations, SOBISCO’s growth has been guided by that very belief, creating food that brings joy, trust, and togetherness to millions of homes. Over the years, SOBISCO has expanded its capabilities with a manufacturing and packaging infrastructure spread across more than 400,000 sq. ft., supported by a committed workforce of over 5,000 people, including both direct and contractual teams. Our distribution network of nearly 3,000 distributors and sub-distributors reaches over 40 lakh retail outlets across 26 states, ensuring freshness and availability wherever our consumers are.

A GROWING FOOD COMPANY!
Sobisco established a new manufacturing unit at Sikandarpur, Bihar, commissioning dedicated production lines for noodles, wafers and cookies, further expanding its multi-category FMCG capabilities.
2024
GROWING MARKET PRESENCE
SOBISCO launched Sobisco Fresh Stores, entering direct-to-consumer retail with a curated range of freshly prepared premium baked offerings. Its network has since expanded to 3,000 distributors across 25 states, supported by a workforce of approximately 4,500 employees.
2023
NEW FRONTIERS!
A dedicated manufacturing facility was established in Northeast India for biscuits, cakes, and rusk, strengthening regional presence. Later that year, the company crossed ₹1,000 crore in revenue, reflecting sustained growth and scale.
2020 & 2021
CAPACITY EXPANSION
The Bihar manufacturing facility was expanded to support rising volumes and future growth. The Nagpur unit was strengthened to serve South India, while rusk manufacturing was brought in-house to improve operational control.

A FORCE TO RECKON!
SOBISCO scaled its cake manufacturing with state-of-the-art facilities, strengthening category leadership. Soon after, it crossed 1,000 distributors nationwide, underscoring the depth of its distribution network.

GLOBAL FOOTPRINT
Sobisco successfully strengthened its U.S. export operations by formalising supply chains and expanding distribution through stockists, distributors and retail partners.
2013
BEYOND BISCUITS
SOBISCO expanded into cake manufacturing, strategically diversifying its bakery portfolio. In the same phase, it began exporting biscuits to the United States, marking its first step into global markets.

BUILDING THE EASTERN GROWTH ENGINE
Sobisco established its manufacturing presence in Bihar, laying the foundation for deeper penetration across North and East India & reinforcing their commitment to a wider consumer base.

STRENGTHENING THE MANUFACTURING CORE
A state-of-the-art manufacturing facility was established in Kolkata, West Bengal, to support growing demand and improve operational scale.
